This is my submission for the Penguin design award 2012. I tried to stray away from all the obvious cliches surrounding the book and mental health. I thought including an ambiguous character would strengthen the design and leave it open to the viewer to interpret the design and which character it might be. For instance the head could be of Mcmurphy with the light coloured parts of his brain being a sign for his forced lobotomy.
The design below is a mock up, the one above developed into the final piece.
I didnt finish this design, it was my first design that i tried to do. i think its too mental to function as a book cover but i do think it came out quite good. The colours are way off in the upload, there supposed to be reds, oranges and yellows!
